Studio Project: Self Portrait
Because Post-Modernism focuses on the individual, the studio project is to complete a self portrait. This does not have to be the representation of our physical, but rather it should embody what makes us ourselves. For my self-portrait, it will be two separate canvases displayed on a wood board. On the wood board I will have my poems to serve as the thing that pulls both of the canvases together. On the edges of one canvas there will be thick vines and plants. In the middle of this canvas there will be a fairy, with a hand almost touching her. On the other canvas, the background will be a galaxy with stars, and in the middle I will have a heart, spewing colors.
I will be discussing the meaning of each of these components later on.

Background Words
On the wood canvas that both of my canvases will be attached to, I will paint the words of a spoken word poem that I have written. This serves as the thing pulling both of my self portraits together, just as I feel my writing pulls my life together. The link I have provided will display the poem that will be displayed on the wood.

The Medium
I will be using acrylic paint as my medium on two white canvases, as well as acrylic paint on the wood board background.
Progress
Due to a time restraint, I was not able to complete all that I wanted to. Instead I cut my workload by only painting Canvas #2 with my poetry in the background.
